Web design for local businesses that genuinely works
A local business doesn't need a pretty, expensive website that then sits there unused. It needs three things that actually work: load instantly on mobile, collect commission-free online bookings or appointments and be properly linked to your Google listing so people find you nearby. At Zenith we build it for you for free (you don't pay to build it) and we stay on to rank it on Google and in AI (ChatGPT, Gemini) with a tailored monthly fee. We don't promise you customers: we do the work and we show it to you.
Why are so many local business websites useless?
If you've had a website before, you probably know the story. You paid a fair bit of money up front, they handed you something with stock photos, and it's sat there ever since: slow on mobile, with a form nobody fills in and an address that's no longer correct. Whoever built it vanished the moment they got paid. And when someone searches for your kind of business in your area, you don't show up: your competition does.
The problem is almost never the design. It's the model. A local business website isn't a flyer you put up once and forget: it's a tool that has to load fast, collect bookings, stay connected to your Google listing and stay alive month after month. That's exactly what the "I charge you, I hand it over and goodbye" model doesn't do.
We do it the other way round. We build your website without you paying to build it and we stay by your side to rank it. If we don't keep it alive and we don't show up, it makes no sense for anyone.
What does a local business website really include?
These are the four pieces that separate a website that works for you from a forgotten digital flyer. If a single one fails, the website doesn't perform:
| Piece | What it solves for your business |
|---|---|
| Real speed | Loads instantly, even on a phone with poor coverage. Someone looking for a business nearby is in a hurry: if it's slow, they go elsewhere. We build on Cloudflare, blazing fast |
| Online bookings or appointments | The customer books a table, requests an appointment or leaves their details from their phone, 24 hours a day. No per-booking commission and no middlemen taking a cut |
| Linked Google listing | Your website and your Google Maps listing reinforce each other, which is what does the most to get you found when people search "near me" |
| Flawless mobile | The vast majority look you up from their phone. Everything looks and works well on a small screen: call button, directions, opening hours and booking in a single tap |
No customer uploads, no confusing dashboards and no plugins that break. We build and maintain the content. You focus on your business.
Commission-free bookings and appointments: why does it matter so much?
Many local businesses depend on booking platforms that take a percentage of every customer who comes in through them, or on appointment systems that charge a fee. It makes sense at first, but in the long run you're renting your own customer base.
When the booking or appointment comes in through your website, the customer is yours: their data, their contact details, their history. You don't pay a per-head commission or depend on an app to keep sending you people. We set up a simple booking or appointment form, connected to your email, that automatically confirms the customer and notifies you. And if you want, reminders to cut down on no-shows.
- Zero per-booking commission. The customer who comes in through your website doesn't cost anyone a percentage.
- Your data in your hands. The contacts are yours, not a platform's.
- Automatic confirmation. The customer gets their confirmation; you get the notification instantly.
How do we get you found on Google AND in AI?
A fast website with bookings is no use if nobody finds it. That's why building it is only the start: the real work is the monthly one, getting you ranked where your customers look for you. And today they look for you in two places.
On Google, above all on the map: when someone searches for your kind of business "near me". That's worked on through a complete Google listing, real reviews and a well-linked website. We explain it step by step in local SEO and Google Maps, which is the piece that does the most for a neighbourhood business.
And in AI: more and more people, instead of searching, ask ChatGPT or Gemini "where can I have a nice dinner with kids around here?" or "recommend me a physio that's open on Saturdays". If your business isn't among the names it gives, then for that person you don't exist. Working on that is what we call GEO, and it's part of the same ongoing support.
That figure is context, not a promise: more and more people decide who to call by asking an AI, and almost no neighbourhood business has done anything to appear there. We explain all the Google and AI work together in ranking on Google and in AI.
How does the Zenith model work?
We turn the usual way around. Instead of charging you for an expensive website up front and disappearing, we put our work first:
- You tell us about your business. What you do, where and who you want to reach. No commitment.
- We build your website for free. You don't pay to build it: fast, with bookings or appointments and linked to your Google listing. It's our bet on the work.
- If we're a good fit, we stay on to rank it. With a tailored monthly fee that already includes the domain, the SSL and everything technical (not billed separately) plus the Google and AI work.
- Every month we show you what we did. And where you appear today on Google and in AI. You pay for the work you see, not for a promise.
The fee is tailored because a neighbourhood bar isn't the same as a clinic with several sites. It has an honest minimum of a few months (around three), because ranking is gradual and isn't measured in two weeks; depending on the case, the first few months may be paid in advance, and we talk that through clearly before we start. The details live on the pricing page.
What kind of local business is this for?
The same engine —a fast website, commission-free bookings or appointments, a Google listing and flawless mobile— works for almost any neighbourhood business. These are the trades we fit best with:
- Restaurants, bars and cafés — table booking and an always up-to-date menu. It's the niche we know best: web design for restaurants.
- Clinics and practices (dentists, physios, psychologists, podiatrists) — online appointments and clear opening hours. Coming soon.
- Lawyers and consultancies — initial consultation and clearly explained practice areas. Coming soon.
- Hair and beauty salons — appointment booking and services with prices. Coming soon.
- Garages and technical services — quote requests and directions. Coming soon.
- Gyms and sports centres — classes, prices and sign-up. Coming soon.
- Hotels and small accommodation — availability and direct booking without a portal commission. Coming soon.
If your trade isn't on the list, no problem: the model is the same. Tell us what kind of business you have and we'll honestly tell you whether we're a good fit.
What will you never hear us promise?
This is the part almost nobody in the industry puts in writing. We say it because it's what sets us apart:
- We won't tell you you'll come out first on Google. Nobody controls that.
- We don't guarantee you customers, bookings or a number of appointments. We don't sell "pay per result" or "you only pay if it works".
- We don't promise AI will cite you. We do what makes it more likely, and we show it to you.
What we do promise is the work: a fast website that genuinely collects bookings, and the monthly effort to get you found, with a transparent report. We put our hours in up front, for free, before you pay anything.

What is local SEO and why does a neighbourhood business need it more than regular SEO?
When someone searches for "restaurant near me" or "dentist in my area", Google doesn't show ten random websites: it shows a map with three featured businesses at the top —what's known as the local pack— and, below, the regular results. Local SEO is the work of getting into that map and those three listings, which is where almost all the clicks go. It's different from traditional SEO: here you're not competing with the whole world, you're competing with the businesses in your area, and things matter that don't even exist in regular SEO.
For a neighbourhood business, local SEO matters more than almost anything else, because your customer isn't looking for "the best in the country": they're looking for something good and nearby, right now. The three factors that move the local pack the most are proximity to whoever's searching, how complete and active your Google listing is, and the number and quality of your real reviews. Your website comes in as support: it reinforces the listing, builds trust and handles the booking or appointment.
Earlier on the page we explained that website and listing reinforce each other; here's the detail of how that map works on the inside, so you understand exactly what's worked on each month and why having a website alone isn't enough.
- Proximity matters: all else being equal, Google prefers to show what's close to whoever's searching, so there's no single "first place" for everyone.
- A complete, active Google listing (hours, photos, services, posts) ranks above an abandoned one.
- Real, recent reviews are among the factors that move things the most, and they're also the first thing a person looks at before calling.
Google reviews: the factor that sells the most and almost nobody asks for properly
Of everything that moves a local business, Google reviews are what decides the call the most. Before booking a table or requesting an appointment, a person looks at the rating and reads two or three opinions; if they see few reviews or very old ones, they go to the one next door even if your business is better. And the curious thing is that almost no business asks for them systematically: they leave them to chance.
The trick isn't to buy reviews —it's prohibited, and in Spain the law penalises fake reviews— but to make it easy for the happy customer. What works best is a direct shortcut to your listing at the right moment: a QR code on the table, the counter or the receipt, or a short link that goes straight to the "write a review" screen. As part of the ongoing support we set up that link and the QR for you, and we help you ask for them without sounding pushy.
Responding matters too. Replying to reviews —to the good ones and, above all, calmly to the bad ones— tells Google the listing is alive and future customers that there's someone behind it who cares. It doesn't take much time: a couple of replies a week already makes a difference.
- A QR or direct link to "write a review" on the table, counter, receipt or after the service: the happy customer takes a few seconds.
- Always ask for real reviews from real customers. Nothing made up or bought: as well as Google penalising it, in Spain Law 10/2025 penalises fake reviews.
- Reply to reviews regularly, including negative ones, to keep the listing active and convey trust.
You're an online agency: can you work on my business in my city?
Yes, and for local SEO it's no disadvantage. We work 100% remotely for businesses across Spain, and ranking on the map doesn't depend on us having an office on your street: it depends on your listing, your reviews and your website pointing clearly to the area where you want to attract customers. We do that just as well from wherever we are, without you having to travel or host anyone.
The key to local SEO is that your business shows up when someone searches near your real address, whether you're in Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Bilbao, Málaga or a small town. What counts is your location, not ours: we set up your listing with the correct address and service area, make sure your name, address and phone appear identical everywhere, and orient the website to your locality.
Being an online agency also has a practical advantage: all the work is done and measured remotely, with no endless meetings, and every month you get the report on what was done and how you're doing. You carry on with your work; we carry on getting you found in your area.
