Web ranking

Web ranking on Google

Web ranking is the work of making your page show up in Google's results when someone searches for what you offer, without paying for each click. It is built on three pillars: the website's technical foundation, the content that answers what people are looking for and the authority the site earns over time. At Zenith we build your website for free (€0) and we take care of the ranking within a tailored monthly fee, with an honest minimum of around 3 months. We sell the work of building it and ranking it, not a guaranteed position: ranking takes months and depends on your competition.

What exactly is web ranking?

Web ranking, or SEO (search engine optimisation), is the set of tasks that make your page show up in Google's results when someone searches for a product, a service or an answer related to what you offer. Unlike ads, you don't pay for each click: visitors arrive because Google decides your website is a good answer for that search. That is why it's called organic traffic, and it's the kind that holds up when you stop investing in advertising.

It's worth distinguishing three things that often get mixed up. One is the general or organic web ranking we talk about on this page: ranking your page for everyday searches on Google, without limiting yourself to one city. Another is local SEO, designed to help a physical business show up on Google Maps and in searches in its area. And the third is ranking on AI (ChatGPT, Gemini), that is, preparing your website so those assistants take you into account when someone asks them. They are three distinct and complementary fronts, and at Zenith we work on them together.

When we talk about ranking a website at the national level, the goal is usually to appear for terms that combine your sector with a buying or information intent. It's a competitive field: there are many companies working on the same searches, so gaining visibility is a process of months, not days. We say it plainly from the start so you know what to expect, because we'd rather have a client with clear ideas than one with inflated expectations.

What are the three pillars of web ranking?

Almost all of SEO can be organised into three pillars. The first is technical: that the website loads fast, looks good on mobile, is well structured and that Google can crawl, read and understand it without stumbling. A slow or poorly built website starts at a disadvantage no matter how much content it has, so this is the foundation everything else rests on. This is where speed, indexing, the architecture of the pages and the structured data that helps Google interpret what's on each one all come in.

The second pillar is content. Google rewards pages that genuinely answer what people are looking for, with useful, well-organised text written for a specific intent. It's not about repeating keywords until you're sick of them, but about covering the topic well: explaining, comparing and resolving real questions. Good content is what a visitor reads and feels they've found exactly what they needed, and that's also what Google tends to show higher up.

The third pillar is authority. Over time, a website earns credibility in Google's eyes based on who links to it, how much it's mentioned and the trust your business conveys. This front is the one that takes longest to mature and the one you can't speed up with tricks without risking a penalty that wipes out months of work. That is why serious ranking is measured in months and built with consistency, not with shortcuts that promise miracles.

  • Technical: speed, mobile, structure, indexing and structured data.
  • Content: useful pages that answer a real search intent.
  • Authority: the site's trust and reputation accumulated over time.

How does it differ from local SEO and ranking on AI?

General web ranking aims to make your page appear in Google's classic results for searches that can come from anywhere: someone looking for your type of service no matter where they are. It's the broadest and, usually, the most competitive, because you're up against websites from all over Spain and even beyond. It fits best if you sell or work beyond your neighbourhood.

Local SEO is something else: it focuses on helping a business with a physical presence stand out in its area, especially on Google Maps and in searches with nearby intent of the "near me" kind. There the business profile, the reviews and your premises' information carry a lot of weight. If you have a neighbourhood business, this front tends to deliver results sooner than general SEO, because the competition is narrowed down to your city or your area. We explain it in depth on our local SEO page, which is one of the other two fronts of ranking.

Ranking on AI (ChatGPT, Gemini) is the newest front. It consists of preparing your website so these assistants take you into account when someone asks them about your sector. It's a field in full flux and no one can guarantee that AI will cite you, just as no one can guarantee a position on Google. The sensible thing is to work on the three fronts at once and with realistic expectations; you have the details on our ranking on Google and AI page.

What's included in Zenith's monthly support?

Our model is the opposite of the usual one: building your website is free, €0. You don't pay for the design or the development. What you pay is a tailored monthly fee that covers the hosting, the domain, the SSL, the maintenance and the ongoing work of ranking on Google and on AI (ChatGPT, Gemini). Since SEO is a long process, we work with an honest minimum of around 3 months; we set that reference precisely so the work has time to start showing, not to tie you down.

As part of the support we continuously review the three pillars: we keep the website fast and technically healthy, we keep creating and improving content around the searches that matter to your business and we look after the foundation that gives the site authority over time. It's not a one-off job: ranking moves every month because the competition is working too and Google keeps changing how it orders results. That is why a website left untouched ends up losing ground.

What we don't do is promise a specific result. We're not going to tell you that you'll be first, or that you'll have x customers, or that AI will cite you for sure. We sell the work of building and ranking your website, done well and transparently, and we show you what we measure each month. The result depends on your sector, your competition and time, and we say that before we start, not after we've charged you.

Why does web ranking take months?

Because Google doesn't reorganise its results overnight and because trust can't be bought. When we publish or improve content, Google has to crawl it, understand it and decide where it fits against everything that already exists. That process, on top of the maturing of the site's authority, means real movements show up over the course of several months, not in the first few weeks.

What's more, web ranking terms are competitive: they have a medium difficulty and there are companies that have been working on them for years. That is why our way of working prioritises the most reachable searches first, where you can gain ground sooner, and leaves the most competitive ones as a long-term goal. It's the honest way to make progress: early results where they can be had and patience where it's called for, without selling a position we don't control.

If someone promises you the top spot in a few weeks or the famous "pay per result", be wary. SEO doesn't work like that, and promising it only leads to disappointment or to risky techniques that can penalise your website. We'd rather go slowly and well than sell a miracle that doesn't exist; our commitment is the work, done with judgement, not a promise no serious professional can sign.

Why choose Zenith as a web ranking company?

Because we work on the three fronts of ranking together: general web, local SEO and ranking on AI. Many agencies touch only one; we understand that they reinforce each other and that neglecting one takes away from the whole. Your website is born already technically ready to rank, not as a pretty brochure that later has to be patched up when it's already too late.

Because we're honest about what can and can't be promised. We don't inflate expectations or make up figures: we tell you what we do each month, what we measure and why some searches arrive sooner than others. That transparency isn't an extra we charge for on the side, it's part of the service and of how we understand this long-term relationship.

And because the model is designed so getting started isn't a barrier: the free website and a clear monthly fee that includes everything your online presence needs to work and improve. No surprises, no fine print and with the ranking work integrated from day one, not as an add-on that shows up on the invoice once you're already in.

How do we work on your ranking, step by step?

We start by understanding your business and what your customer is really looking for. From there we identify the searches that make sense for you and we order them: first the most reachable ones, where visibility can be gained sooner, and we leave the most competitive ones as a background goal. On that map we build the website, already technically optimised from the start, so as not to carry over problems that later hold back SEO.

Then comes the monthly work of content and maintenance. We keep creating and fine-tuning pages that answer those searches well, we make sure the site stays fast and healthy, and we review how it evolves on Google. Every month there are adjustments, because ranking is a living field and the competition doesn't sit still; what works today may need a revisit a few months from now.

And we keep you in the loop. We don't work in the dark: we explain what we do, what we're measuring and what to realistically expect. If something is going to take time, we say so; if something improves, we show you with data. The goal is for you to know at all times why you're paying your fee and what's happening with your website, without empty jargon or filler reports.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

What is web ranking?
It is the set of tasks that make your page show up in Google's results when someone searches for what you offer, without paying for each click. It rests on three pillars: the website's technical foundation, useful content and the authority a site earns over time. It is also called SEO or organic ranking, and it is the traffic that keeps coming when you stop paying for advertising.
How long does it take for a website to rank?
Months, not days. Google needs time to crawl, understand and reorder results, and a site's authority matures slowly. That is why we work with an honest minimum of around 3 months and prioritise the most reachable searches first. Anyone who promises the top spot in weeks is not being realistic, and it is worth being wary.
Do you guarantee I'll come up first on Google?
No, and be wary of anyone who promises it. We sell the work of building and ranking your website, done well and transparently, not a specific position. The result depends on your sector, your competition and time. What we do offer is serious, honest and consistent work, and showing you what we measure each month so there are no surprises.
What's the difference between web ranking and local SEO?
General web ranking aims to appear in Google's classic results for searches from anywhere and tends to be more competitive. Local SEO focuses on helping a physical business stand out in its area, especially on Google Maps, where the business profile and reviews carry weight. If you have a neighbourhood business, the ideal is to work on both fronts at once.
How much does web ranking cost with Zenith?
Building your website is free, €0. You pay a tailored monthly fee that includes the domain, SSL, hosting, maintenance and the ongoing work of ranking on Google and on AI (ChatGPT, Gemini), with an honest minimum of around 3 months. We adjust the amount to your project, with no surprises and no fine print.
Is ranking the same as Google Ads?
No. Ads are paid traffic: you show up at the top while you pay for each click and you stop showing up when you stop. Web ranking is organic: it takes more time to achieve, but visitors arrive without you paying per click. We work on organic ranking, which is what holds up over the long term even if it doesn't deliver immediate results.
Does showing up on Google also help AI take me into account?
It helps, but it's not the same thing. Ranking on AI (ChatGPT, Gemini) is a separate front and one in full flux; having a clear, trustworthy website adds up, but no one can guarantee that an assistant will cite you. That is why we work on the three fronts at once (general web, local SEO and AI) with realistic expectations and without promising a citation we don't control.
Do I need a new website to rank?
Not always, but starting with a healthy foundation helps a lot. Our model creates it for you for free and already technically optimised from day one, which avoids carrying over problems that hold back SEO. If you already have a website, we assess it with you and tell you honestly whether it's better to start from scratch or improve the current one.

Would you rather deal with an SEO consultant one to one?

If you want an expert person to audit and work on your organic ranking talking with you directly, we tell you about it in SEO consultant (and if your business is local, in local SEO consultant).

Shall we talk about your project?

Building your website is free; the monthly support —domain and technical work included— is what you pay for. No promises of position: we show you the work we do and how you progress.
